Salt Seeker: Life and death under the Khmer Rouge regime

Saturday, December 2nd, 2017

5:30 P.M. – 8:00 P.M.

Place: 15 Boraten Circle, Linfield, Pa 19468

Get ready for an amazing, thrilling, sad, and heart-breaking tale of endurance and triumph set during one of the darkest periods in human history.  Author Daravann Yi reflects on Salt Seeker, his first-hand account of life in Cambodia under the cruel, genocidal Khmer Rouge regime that lasted from April 17th, 1975 to January 7th, 1979. You will be both intrigued and horrified by his graphic account of one of the worst mass killing of the twentieth century, and inspired by Daravann’s daring escape to freedom.  Even after 38 years, this inspiring tale of survival continues to resonate in a world filled with war, suffering, and displacement.

"The gripping tale of the triumph of a young boy forced to deal with the realities of war, displacement, rampant murder, and survival."

Robert Woish, Certified Professional Resume Writer

“An incredible and thought-provoking story of hardship and survival against overwhelming odds.”

PRESS RELEASE

Free Event

Meet the author:  Daravann Yi

Upper Merion Township Library

Tuesday, May 20, 2008, at 7 PM in Freedom Hall

Area resident Daravann Yi has written a captivating memoir entitled Salt Seeker.    It is a vivid and poignant personal account of his survival of the Cambodian genocide under dictator Pol Pot.   Salt Seeker is an extraordinary story about a courageous young boy who journeyed through hell on earth and back from April 17, 1975, to January 7, 1979. Hope and strength of will kept him alive as he watched others including many relatives die or more often just "disappear."

Daravann's account of the extraordinary and inventive measures he took to ensure his own survival and that of many family members are portrayed with a realism that will have you both crying and cheering.  A portion of the proceeds from the sale of the book will support the Salt Seeker Foundation, Inc. Yi founded this nonprofit charitable organization to improve the quality of life and the future of the orphans in Cambodia.  This "Meet the Author" event is not to be missed.

December 1, 2007

November 1, 2007 - November 23, 2007, I, Daravann Yi, Director/Founder of Salt Seeker Foundation, Inc., took a trip to Cambodia to visit the Orphanage Centers

The trip was a great joy and successful, especially during the establishment of my relationship with the directors of the two Orphanage Centers, the care-takers and the children!  The trip has inspired Salt Seeker Foundation to be more committed to bringing love and joy to the Cambodian orphans.

Our Mission

Salt Seeker Foundation, Inc. is a nonprofit charitable organization.  It has been established to improve the quality of life and the future of the orphans in Cambodia.  Our goals are to:

  • Strengthen and promote educational and career development
  • Provide financial support
  • Provide spiritual support
  • Encourage self-reliance and
  • Promote love and peace

We believe that:

  • We need to love, to serve and to help the needy and
  • No one can be totally successful without taking the time to help those in need educationally, financially, emotionally and socially

If you would like to make my vision a reality, please send your donation to:
